On the Menu is a simple tool for helping people plan their meals. Users can store recipes, plan their meals, and generate shopping lists all in one place.
I came up with the idea for On the Menu while learning Ruby on Rails at Codecademy Labs. I worked through a number of ideas by brainstorming and sketching. After this ideation phase, I narrowed down On the Menu's scope to only include its most essential features. I created annotated wireframes and style tiles for my minimum viable product. I'm currently working on developing On the Menu, and will be deploying this project on Heroku.
Once the MVP has been deployed I will conduct a few guerilla usability tests to see if people understand the purpose of the product, and to weed out any crucial usability problems the UI may have. I will use this feedback to make revisions to the copywriting and UI. The next step will be to conduct a small controlled launch to continue gathering feedback. My hope is that this process will give me an idea of what features would be most important to add to the product, and whether or not users would be willing to pay for it.
